"The Little Mermaid" remake's ending threw me to the left: First of all, why is Ariel the one to deliver the killing blow? Ursula was initially the one focusing on HER because she killed her eels. Why the hell would she be after Eric when all he did was stay tangled up?? Secondly, it defeats the purpose of King Triton's character development. And third of all, she's only been on land for 3 days. Ariel still has a lot of learning to do in regards to the human world and how it operates. It makes no sense for her to magically know how to steer a ship. Maybe if they had her studying how to prior, it would've explained things a lot better. It seems like Disney maintains the idea of their princesses needing to "save themselves". Ironically, Disney is sending a horrible message to little girls, basically saying "Hey, if you ever need help, you're a worthless damsel in distress, have a quality day, ladies!!" like WHAT?? So, TLDR; the ending is flawed, it makes no sense and is just an
